Beautify Your Space With Brass

Brass figurines are timeless and traditional artifacts, which are being used as decoratives from times immemmorial.

What attracts me is the sheen and colour of this metal which gveis a warm antique look to your decor.

If you have a traditional themed interiors, brass artifacts are a perfect choice to beautify your space and make it look more elegant.

Small figurines of deities, birds and animals can be used as a display in the niches or you can make a space for them on your cocktail table.

The bigger ones like that of the serene Buddha (which I am crazy about ;)) or others can be adorned on a beautiful console in your foyer which will welcome you and your guests with a smile :) .

Brass wall art are also available in the market. Framing these will make it look more ethereal. Also, provide these with accent lighting for a brighter, lively and a vivacious look.

Mirror...Mirror...!!!!!

I don't know why, but for quiet sometime now , I have been really obsessed with MIRRORS....

Especially, those with gilded frames....which I feel are traditionally chic :) ....

Royal purple along with the chairs golden wood finish and gilded mirror frame at the backdrop makes the space look more luxurious.
Be it floor mirrors, wall hangings, vanity mirrors or ceiling mirrors...marks sophistication in your interiors and increases it's antithetical value.

As we all know, mirror brightens a space by reflecting more light and makes it look more spacious.

And how is that????

Its a visual trick - A Sense Of Illusion

Mirror position plays an important role.

Mirror placed adjacent to a window or a wall provides a sense of spaciousness and makes a space look wider and hence bigger.

Mirrors fixed on the ceiling gives an illusion of greater height to a space having a low level roof.

By placing a mirror opposite to a window, outside beauty can be brought into your interiors making it look more pleasant.

This beautiful traditional mirror in the dining reflects the kitchen and the adjacent windows too...

Loved the idea of doubling the greenery.

Just imagine converting your tiny garden into a much bigger one by using these mirrors.

Amazing isn't it ???

MYSORE MARQUETRY…..Rosewood Inlay Furniture….

This ancient woodcraft of inlay is being practiced and appreciated from centuries….Intricate motifs are etched delicately with colored wood or acrylic and are inlaid and fixed against a wooden frame like that of rosewood….

Traditionally, this art involved
ivory and rosewood….But, due to the ban on ivory, craftsmen inlay shell or plastic….Teak, mango or even ply and MDF is being used as a substitute for the otherwise expensive rosewood….

Lately, I visited Mysore and I came across these pieces in one of the handicraft shop… And an immediate desire sprouted up….to possess one of these pieces and to make my “Home Sweet Home’ look more aesthetic…

And YUPPPPPPPPPPP... :)
It was fulfilled with the help of an artisan from MYSORE….Whose family has been carrying forward this artwork from generations….And I was lucky enough to get a square cocktail table and a dining table sculpted by his magical hands.

I will leave you with some of the pictures of these wonderful pieces….which I think are worth taking a peek at J.
